Interview is a research method designed to draw a vivid picture of the participants’ perspective on a phenomenon under study. Interview is most suitable for addressing sensitive topics and eliciting individuals’ feelings, opinions and experiences. To conduct interviews the researcher must follow ethical guidelines such as explaining the purpose of interview, assuring confidentiality and seeking consent. The interviewer is also tasked with responsibilities of recruiting the respondents and taking notes during the interview process. I think the best technique to obtain a vivid picture of the participants’ perspective of the study is by asking open ended questions.
I think the most thing that we are looking for
-welcoming
-explains purpose
-body language
-developing questions
- reflection, summarizes
You are doing well in demonstrating your understanding of what interviewing is about. I would like you to go beyond just being descriptive and reporting what is in the readings. For example what was your experience of the interview practice session? Have you done any interviewing before? In that case how was that experience like and how well did the techniques you used then reflect the skills you have learnt in the QR course? Reflective writing is about linking experiences to what you are learning.
