Go to http://www.senate.gov/ and
http://www.house.gov/ then answer the following questions for each chamber.
Part 1 Select one representative and one senator and give his or her name, what district/state they represent, what party they belong to, and one committee that they serve on.
Part 2. Select one committee from the House and one from the Senate and give its name, who the chair of it is, how many Republicans and Democrats sit on it, and what its jurisdiction is (only one or two items, not the entire list). If it is currently examining a bill, give that information as well.
Part 2. Select one committee from the House and one from the Senate and give its name, who the chair of it is, how many Republicans and Democrats sit on it, and what its jurisdiction is (only one or two items, not the entire list). If it is currently examining a bill, give that information as well.
Part 3. This chapter is split into two components: the basic features of Congress (size, term rules, etc.) and the legislative process or how a bill becomes a law. For this assignment, go to www.nytimes.com and find two articles that pertain to Congress. Review each of the articles and separate the information into either basic information or process information. Next, summarize the articles based on these two categories. So what you will be handing in to me are the two lists (basic and process) of information for each article, and a summary of each of the articles. The summary should not exceed 150 words for each article, but should incorporate information from each list.
