General Psychology

Psychological assessment is an imperfect endeavor. However, we strive toward the assessment being good enough to be useful. Sometimes examiners have to make decisions about what type of error is acceptable.
Using the website http://buros.unl.edu/buros/jsp/search.jsp, select a psychological assessment instrument in your field of interest that measures a particular variable you feel is useful to assess.
Note: Do not purchase a review of any test. You will use the Buros website to look up the name and brief description of a test and then conduct further research on your own about this test.
Briefly define and discuss hits, misses, false positive errors, and false negative errors. Using your selected instrument and considering your area of interest, discuss each of these four issues as they might apply to interpreting and validly using the instrument you have chosen.
The assignment should:
  • Follow assignment directions (review grading rubric for best results).
  • Use correct APA formatting per the APA Publication Manual, 6th Edition.
  • Demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard American English.
  • Be written in Standard American English and be clear, specific, and error-free. If needed, be sure to use the Kaplan University Writing Center for help.
  • Be a minimum of 5 pages (not including Title Page and Reference List.  FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS TOPIC CLICK HERE
