Paper instructions:
This paper asks me to integrate several sources to analyze the rhetorical conventions operating in a given area. Discuss the intended or unintended functions and the efficacy of the use of rhetoric within the topic. Please use academic resources that are credible. Include at least 5 resources. Also can you address the following areas if possible:
Statements of purpose (thesis statements, mission statements, rationales)
Genres (reflecting variations in audience, purpose, or occasion)
Acknowledged and unacknowledged limitations
Underlying assumptions
The use (or lack) of key rhetorical patterns , such as: definition (describing and clarifying concepts or key terms, and then expanding the definition), analogy and metaphor (a comparison between elements based on only a few shared points), description, classification, division, comparison and contrast, cause and affect, and analysis of process or systems
What is considered evidence within the argument: what types of examples seen as constituting truth
Variation of sentence and paragraph structure reflecting the interests of the rhetor
Particular vocabulary and jargon used
Level of formality and degree of direct communication
The style of discussion
The use of pathos, logos, and ethos.
You will most likely be answering one or more of the following questions:
What is the relationship between the rhetoric and its context?
How does the message construct a particular reality for the audience and the rhetor?
What does the rhetorical artifact suggest about the rhetor?
Essay’s ideal audience member is a thoughtful, educated person, who is not familiar with the texts and the contexts you are analyzing and for understanding and being persuaded of the credibility of your argument. You must supply any necessary background for the reader to grasp your intent.
