SECTION 1: Choose five questions from the following three categories (5 x 8=40 points).
A: Give a brief description (several sentences, no longer than ten lines) of one of the historical periods we have covered in class (eg., Edo, Meiji, Postwar, etc.
B: Give a brief outline of a period of historical transformation (eg., the establishment of the modern Japanese state).
C: Give a brief answer (under ten lines) on a specific topic covered in class (eg. “What is sankin kotai?”)

SECTION 2: Ten ID’s chosen out of fifteen. Answers should be brief, ideally just a couple of sentences. Each ID is worth 4 points (40 points)
