Old Testament God

In many stories of the Old Testament God is often viewed as a violent judge. Is this an accurate portrayal of God? Explain. In the Books of Deuteronomy and Joshua the Israelites followed a law of God entitled herem, often translated ‘the ban of destruction for God.’ What really does herem refer to? Use examples from Scripture to establish your point. Many people have compared herem to the Muslim belief of jihad. What are some similiarities? What are some differences? (Hint: use Seibert & Breuggemann’s texts)
