HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this assessment is to:-
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the role of performance management and its contribution to organisational effectiveness, retention and motivation of employees AND/OR
2. Demonstrate an understanding of remuneration and reward structures, and the contribution remuneration and rewards management makes to organisational effectiveness, retention and motivation of employees AND/OR
3. Demonstrate an understanding of current legislative requirements for health and safety in the workplace, and the contribution workplace health and safety management makes to organisational effectiveness, retention and motivation of employees.
2. INSTRUCTIONS
Research and prepare a report on ANY TWO of the three Topic options listed below:
Option One: A real-life organisation’s approach towards, and use of, performance management and review.
Your report should discuss
i) what, if any, method the organisation currently uses towards its assessment of staff performance;
ii) how it deals with performance difficulties e.g. through counselling and/or discipline, or other measures;
iii) whether its performance management approach connects in any way to any employee training or career development processes, if it uses these;
iv) explain, giving reasons one way that you believe its current performance management practices, could be further improved.
Option Two: A real-life organisation’s approach towards and use of remuneration and rewards management.
Your report should discuss
i) what type of remuneration system the organisation currently uses
ii) how its remuneration and/or rewards methods are linked to employee performance.
iii) any possible costs and/or benefits of its current remuneration and rewards processes
iv) explain, giving reasons, one way that you believe its current remuneration and rewards management processes could be further improved
Option Three: A real-life organisation’s approach towards and management of employee health and safety.
Your report should discuss
i) how the organisation currently manages employee health and safety
ii) any specific health and safety issues the organisation should be aware of and what it should do to manage those
iii) how the organisation deals with any work-related employee stress and work life balance for its employees
iv) explain, giving reasons, one way that you believe its current health and safety management could be further improved
